The year is 1916. You are young Indiana Jones, the son of a professor of medieval studies at Princeton Universiy in New Jersey. In this story you are traveling through Mexico with your cousin Frank.

In the adventures that follow, you will get to meet many famous figures in history, such as Pancho Villa, General Pershing, and General Patton. You will also experience life during the Mexican Revolution, and learn all about the latest military advances of the time. You may even get a firsthand look at the corruption of power!

From time to time as you read along, you will be asked to make a choice. The adventures you have as Indiana Jones are the results of your choices. You are responsible because you choose. After you make your decision, follow the instructions to find out what happens to you next. Remember, your Mexican adventures depend on the actions you decide to take.

Chronology

1521 The native Aztec empire is overthrown by forces under the command of the Spanish advenurer, Hernán Cortés.

1521-1821 Mexico is a Spanish colony.

1821 Revolt led by Augustin de Iturbide forces Spain to recognize Mexican independence.

1845 The Unided States annexes Texas, which had declared its independence from Mexico a decade earlier.

1846-1848 War with the Unided States strips Mexico of its northwestern provinces, including New Mexico and northern California.

1857 Benito Juárez becomes president.

1864 French forces occupy Mexico on inability of Mexico to pay its debts. The French set up the Austrian archduke Maximilian as emperor.

1867 The French withdraw their troops on the demand of the U.S. under the "Monroe Doctrine." Maximilian executed by the Mexicans.

1876 Portirio Diaz siezes power.

1910-1911 Francisco Madero organizes effective revolt against Diaz and is elected president.

1913 Victoriana Huerta, Madero's military commander, has Madero murdered and seizes power. Pancho Villa and Zapata organize revolts against his rule.

1914 Venustiano Corranza ousts Huerta and becomes president.

1915-1916 Civil war in which the forces of Carranza defeat both Villa and Zapata.
