Attack of the Monster Plants
By Susan Saunders

You and your younger sister, Jenny, plant gardens every year. But Jenny's garden always does much better than yours. If your tomatoes are the size of oranges, hers are the size of salad plates. You grow six squash in a week - Jenny grows sixteen.
You're tired of hearing Jenny brag. This summer, you decide you'll buy a special fertilizer to make your plants grow as big as hers - bigger, even!
The fetilizers at the garden center cost a lot. You're counting your money when an old man walks over to you. He pulls a small bottle out of a shopping bag.
It's better than fertilizer, he whispers. Just sprinkle a little on each plant. It works like a charm - giant plants for just a dollar forty-nine.
The price is right. You'll try it.
You open the bottle when you get home. This stuff looks just like cranberry juice! you mutter.
